Tune your 2020-2021 F-Series Super Duty with HP Tuners

HP Tuners is proud to offer a complete diagnostics and custom-tuning solution for 2020-2021 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles with the 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel starting with our MD1 ECM upgrade service. Supporting the Ford MD1CP006 ECM, we offer a one-time, send-in upgrade service to get your vehicle’s ECM ready for tuning.

Once upgraded, you will use an MPVI2 or newer device to connect with VCM Scanner to scan, diagnose, and data log important parameters. Then use VCM Editor to access engine parameters within Airflow, Fuel, Torque Management, and more to build a custom tune that fits your needs. Plus, our solution provides this access directly via the OBDII port using an HP Tuners interface.

Upgrade Service

Our one-time, send-in upgrade option will upgrade your original ECM to enable tuning in VCM Suite. Simply send us your ECM and we’ll send it back to you fully upgraded for tuning in the latest VCM Suite (BETA).

Make sure to include the VIN when checking out (always double-check your VIN for accuracy to avoid delays). This service takes 3-5 business days to complete (not including shipping times).

Important Note: This is a send-in service that requires you to send HP Tuners your original ECM for servicing.

Everything you need to tune your Power Stroke vehicle with HP Tuners:

  1. Select the Upgrade ECM Service.
  2. Download the latest version of VCM Suite BETA for free here.
  3. Once upgraded, purchase the required number of MPVI Credits/Universal Credits to license your upgraded ECM.
  4. Make sure you have an MPVI2 or newer interface.
    1. Purchase a new MPVI3 here.
    2. Upgrade your old device for MPVI3 here.

Note: Universal Credits for licensing are not included in the cost of any upgrade service or purchase. Credits must be purchased separately.




  • Please note this service is required to tune your 2020-2021 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles with the 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel engine.
  • Please ensure you are sending in ONLY a ECM. No brackets, rubber isolators, or other pieces should be included. These components may not be returned with your upgraded ECM.
  • This service only upgrades your original ECM for tuning, it does not reprogram your ECM for a different VIN. If you intend to send HP Tuners a spare MD1CP006 ECM, it will be returned to you with the same programming as it was received and may not operate in your Ford vehicle without additional programming by a Ford dealer.
  • ECMs with broken “LOCKING” tabs or connectors WILL NOT be accepted for upgrades. No exceptions.
  • This is a one-time upgrade that will not affect other operations of the ECM.
  • No other tuning or calibration tools can be used with the ECM post-upgrade (including dealer reflash tools).

These steps only apply to the send-in upgrade service, NOT the new ECM purchase.

Step 1: Once you’ve confirmed your vehicle’s support (2020-2021 F-series Super Duty diesel truck with the MD1CP006 ECM), purchase the upgrade service.

⚠️Please make sure to include the make and model of your vehicle, a copy of the HPT or RTD file, and the VIN (please double-check the VIN for accuracy to avoid delays).

Step 2: After placing your order with the necessary information, see the “Shipping” tab for a shipping form and address. Fill out and print this form to place in your shipping box. You will also receive an email immediately after placing your order with this shipping form and address.

Step 3: Remove the ECM from your vehicle. Package the ECM safely with the shipping form inside the box.

Step 4: Write your order number on the outside of the shipping box.

Step 5: Ship your ECM to HP Tuners using any carrier you prefer. The shipping address can be found on this page and in the email discussed in Step 2. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Step 6: HP Tuners will upgrade your ECM for tuning. Then, we’ll ship it back to you. The service takes 3-5 business days (not including shipping times).

Step 7: Once you receive your upgraded ECM, install it back into your vehicle. Then, license the upgraded ECM by purchasing the required number of MPVI/Universal Credits (sold separately, see vehicle list for credits costs). Once licensed, start tuning with your MPVI2 or newer interface and the latest version of VCM Suite BETA.

Please allow 3-5 business days (plus the time to ship the ECM) per ECM that you send in for the upgrade process to finish (i.e., 2 ECMs = 6-10 business days).

NOTE: Any hardware ordered with this product will be shipped along with your upgraded ECM/PCM/TCM. To avoid any delays should you require other hardware soon, please order that hardware separately.

NOTE: Customers are responsible for shipping costs when sending HP Tuners your ECM/PCM/TCM. The shipping charge at checkout only covers returning your control module after modification.

  • These ECM/PCM/TCM services are completed at the owner’s risk. HP Tuners will not be responsible for the vehicle, its powertrain, or electronics, nor how the control module is used, calibrated, and its functionality.
  • Due to the factory location of the ECMs in the vehicle, all ECMs will exhibit signs of weathering and wear, which is completely normal.
